The Journal of Medical Device Regulation welcomes Dr Christina Zimmer from the German Medical Technology Association BVMed as new Editorial Advisory Board member
The Journal of Medical Device Regulation (JMDR) is thrilled to welcome Dr Christina Zimmer as the newest member of its Editorial Advisory Board. Christina is the new Deputy Director General of the German Medical Technology Association BVMed, where she succeeds Mr Rainer Hill who is taking early retirement at the end of this year.
A natural scientist in the field of chemistry and pharmacy and with a doctorate in scientific medicine, Christina took over responsibility for regulatory affairs at BVMed in April 2019, with a focus on the European Regulation on medical devices, but also environmental, health and safety issues. In December 2020 she was appointed BVMed Deputy Director General.
Christina is involved in the development and revision of guidelines on different aspects of medical device legislation (BVMed-Informationsserie Medizinprodukterecht) and is a member of the MedTech Europe Regulatory Affairs Committee. Furthermore, she is on the board of the DIN Commission Healthcare as well as member of the DIN Standards Committees Medicine, and Healthcare and Rescue Services and Hospital.
“We are extremely pleased to have Dr Zimmer on board”, says Victoria Clark, Editorial Director at Global Regulatory Press. “Her expertise and experience should enable us to strengthen the Journal’s EU regulatory coverage, particularly of the hugely important German market. We very much look forward to working with her.”
